I travel a lot so one of the first things I considered when making the switch to reusables is how practical they are. I want things that are compact, flat, and easy to pack quickly. I’ll show you how easy to do just that when traveling with reusable menstrual products.
I prefer using pads. It’s just a personal preference even though menstrual cups are really comfortable when you find the right fit. If I’m traveling for a short period of time, then I’ll usually take my Amazon pads because they’re smaller and don’t take up as much space in my bag. However, if I’m going to be gone for several weeks and will have access to a washing machine, then I’ll bring my nicer pads. I’ll also pack my drying strap so the pads don’t end up lining all across the shower rail.
If I’m going on vacation, then I’m most likely going to go swimming at least once so I’ll need my menstrual cup. One thing you do have to think about is which country you’re traveling to. If you’re going somewhere where the water isn’t sterile then it’s probably best to bring disposable pads and tampons. I carry my sterilizer which is compact but obviously you can only use it if you have something to boil water with. If I’m rooming with someone then I may lean more towards using menstrual cups because I don’t have to worry about leaving my pads out to dry. You never want to leave your pads somewhere where they can’t dry completely.
Next, I’ll bring my Fels-Naptha detergent bar and keep it with my liquids cosmetic bag. This thing is just an incredible, dependable creation that’s safe for your skin and will clean your pads well.
When I was traveling with disposables, the thing I didn’t like is how I couldn’t lay the bag flat and it was bulky. I also brought so many pads because I felt like I would never bring enough even though I brought more than I needed. One thing that I didn’t want to have to do while traveling is go out to the store and buy a whole pack. Sometimes I wasn’t even staying at a place where I had easy access to the store. Now, if I didn’t bring enough cloth pads then I can use my menstrual cup which works just fine and I can keep reusing it.
I’ve found traveling with reusables to be super easy which is definitely a huge plus.
